Leopold was a teammate of Joe Montana’s at Notre Dame in the late ’70s, winning the NCAA title with him in 1977. Much later, he said “For the pub, man. Notre Dame gives the best pub” when asked to describe why he went there instead of other colleges. Bobby was picked by the Niners in the 1980 draft, made the all-rookie team as right linebacker that year, and was with the 49ers through 1983. He switched to the USFL for 1984 and ’85, came back to the NFL to play for the Packers in 1986, then went into business. Leopold worked in marketing, sales, and business development for the financial industry, and in late 2007 was named VP of client relations at ProVest, which is in the mortage default business.
